With a Coward-esque warble and aprecise and deliberate manner Benjamin Wetherill cuts an unusual figure amongst his song-writing contemporaries. Drawing equally from both pre-WWII pop and English folk traditions he crafts ghostly sketches ofdark, haunted passions, performs stark folk-blues re-workings of songs centuries old, and transforms Formby picture postcard throwaways into bittersweet vignettes of longing and desire.
A much sought after member of the Yorkshire alternative music scene, through a constant performance schedule and various independently released recordings, Benjamin has wooed listeners up and down the country for years, from traditional folk crowds to indie and experimental audiences.
